YAKIMA, Wash. -- Less than two weeks before the end of its 37th annual lecture series, Yakima Town Hall has announced its 2010-11 lineup. Writer Luis Alberto Urrea will close this season’s series with his talk on April 14 at the Capitol Theatre.
Next season’s lineup includes:
Sept. 29 — Cokie Roberts has worked for more than four decades as a television and radio journalist. She is a senior news analyst for National Public Radio News, where she covered Congress for more than 10 years, and a political commentator for ABC News. She has won multiple awards, including three Emmys,.
Nov. 3 — Author Elliot Engel will tell the “real story” behind Charles Dickens. Engel has written numerous books on beloved authors including Dickens, Edgar Allen Poe, William Shakespeare, Mark Twain and Margaret Mitchell.
March 9, 2011 — Kati Marton is a journalist, writer and humanitarian who has worked as a foreign correspondent for ABC News and NPR. Marton, who was born in Hungary, is the author of “Enemies of the People: My Family’s Journey to America,” an account of her journalist parents’ arrest on charges of espionage for the U.S.
April 13, 2011 — Shawn Achor is a motivational speaker who researches happiness. Achor gives presentations around the world on positive psychology and worked for seven years at Harvard University, where he lectured the one of the most popular classes and counseled students.
